Holiday floats will travel the streets of Springfield this Saturday, Dec. 6, for the 73rd annual Springfield Christmas Parade.
The theme for this year’s festivities is Enchanted Snowman Forest.
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. near 21st and Olympic streets, according to the city. The parade will travel south onto Mohawk Boulevard and 14th Street before turning west onto Main Street and ending at Pioneer Parkway East.
The city said streets along the route will be closed from noon to 3 p.m.:
- Main Street from 28th Street to Pioneer Parkway East
- Mohawk Boulevard and 14th Street from 18th Street to South A Street
- Olympic Street from 28th Street to Mohawk Boulevard
The parade is hosted by the Oregon Riders Society, which took over organizing the event in 2017, according to the organization’s website. A nonprofit, Oregon Riders Society helps children and families in need in Lane County. All proceeds from parade entries go to support the organization’s mission.
