One person has died and another is hospitalized after a vehicle hit a tree along Interstate 105, Eugene Springfield Fire officials said Saturday.

Eugene Springfield Fire and the Eugene Police Department responded to the crash shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, May 23. The vehicle was traveling along Interstate 105 eastbound just east of Coburg Road. The vehicle left the road, hitting the tree and came to a rest on its side off the roadway and against a fence, Eugene Springfield Fire said.

One of the two occupants in the vehicle died on the scene of injuries. Firefighters provided patient care and extricated the other occupant who was pinned in the vehicle. That  occupant was taken with serious injuries to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
