Jenny Haruyama, Eugene’s new city manager, will make her City Club of Eugene debut Friday, Nov. 6, in an interview with Lane County Administrator Steve Mokrohisky.
The meeting begins at noon at the WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth Ave. Club meetings are open to the public and free to attend.
In February, the Eugene City Council chose Haruyama to replace Sarah Medary, who retired after six years as city manager and three decades in Eugene city government.
The city manager runs the day-to-day operations of Eugene’s government, managing the city budget, implementing council policies and making decisions about city services.
Most recently, Haruyama served as city manager of Beaverton and has 30 years of municipal leadership experience in Oregon and California. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Hayward and a bachelor’s in business administration from San Jose State University.
Mokrohisky, who reports to the Lane County Board of Commissioners, joined the county in 2014 and has served in county leadership roles across Oregon, Nevada and Wisconsin for more than 20 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Wisconsin.
The program will be livestreamed and will be available on the club’s YouTube channel. Club meetings are rebroadcast Mondays at 7 p.m. on KLCC, 89.7 FM, and are available later as a club podcast.
The City Club of Eugene explores a range of local, state and national issues and helps formulate new approaches and solutions to problems.
