Eugene police responded to WinCo Foods on Barger Drive the evening of Friday, Sept. 18, for what was determined to be a firework wrapped in duct tape. 

Police responded to the store at 4275 Barger Drive for a report of a suspicious device, according to a news release sent by the department at about 10:45 p.m. Friday.

The device was left on a cart return in the parking lot.

The store closed and employees and customers were evacuated while officers investigated. Police asked community members to avoid the immediate area. 

The department announced shortly after 11 p.m. that the incident was resolved and the store was reopened.
