The National Weather Service is warning of gale-force winds on the coast and a possibility of strong winds inland on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
Along the coast, wind gusts have a 40% to 75% chance of exceeding 40-45 mph, the weather service said. Winds of that force can damage trees and cause power outages.
The Eugene-Springfield area, has a 5% to 10% chance of wind gusts that high.
“When we’re talking about 40 miles per hour, we could see a few broken (tree) limbs, the leaves, they start blowing around,” said Daniel Hartsock, a meteorologist with weather service. “Shouldn’t really see any big tree trees falling, or any of that sort of damage.”
Offshore, the weather service forecasts a 70% to 85% chance of gale-force winds and hazardous seas of 14-19 feet on Tuesday and Wednesday.
