Smoke settled over Eugene and Springfield on Sunday as the Moon Complex fire grew rapidly in southern Oregon.
The fire, sparked by lightning in early September, flared again over the weekend with the help of gusty winds. Those winds pushed smoke north into Roseburg and the southern Willamette Valley.
Air quality reached the low-moderate range, a level considered acceptable for most people’s health.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service said widespread rain early in the week should clear the smoke.
The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency issued an air quality advisory Monday through Tuesday evening.
