A Coburg woman and a Winchester Bay man died Tuesday, Sept. 1, after their vehicles collided head-on in Douglas County on Highway 38, state police said.

Gail Elizabeth Smith, 74, and Cody James Miller, 25, died at the scene, state police said.

Police responded at about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday to the crash Highway 38, roughly 9 miles west of Elkton.

According to a preliminary investigation, an eastbound Honda Ridgeline pickup truck driven by Smith crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and entered westbound lanes.

The Honda collided with a westbound yellow Douglas County Public Works International dump truck driven by Miller, state police said.
