A woman who reported a man masturbating in public downtown Saturday, July 25, was shoved repeatedly by the suspect, who also used racial slurs and spat in her face, a Eugene police spokesperson said.

Jack Henry Davidson, 29, was arrested and booked into Lane County Jail.

Monday, the Lane County District Attorney’s office charged him with public indecency and second-degree bias crime, both misdemeanors.

Police responded at 5:28 p.m. Saturday to a report of a disorderly man on the 100 block of West Broadway.

A 38-year-old woman, who is Black, reportedly confronted the man whom she saw masturbating. After allegedly shoving the woman, Davidson reportedly ran across the street and exposed his buttocks.

Upon the arrival of officers, police said Davidson repeatedly used slurs and “made derogatory remarks relating to race and sexual orientation, as well as victims of the Holocaust,” police said.

The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the assault, police said.
