Eugene police arrested two men in connection with a March robbery after executing a search warrant Thursday, June 25, at Black Lotus Tattoo, a shop in the Whiteaker neighborhood owned by one of the suspects.

Brian Charles Julien, 58 and owner of the tattoo shop, and Derick Justin Pier, 39, were taken into custody after a SWAT response at the shop on the 1000 block of West Sixth Avenue.

Police said the robbery took place March 11 when a guest at the nearby Express Inn was robbed at gunpoint by people wearing masks.

State business records list Julian as the owner of Black Lotus Tattoo since 2015. Police said in a news release the city’s code compliance responded to the scene and deemed the business a “dangerous building” after complaints. It has been “boarded up,” according to police.
