A Eugene police search for a stabbing suspect shut down a section of Washington Street for more than two hours overnight Wednesday, April 22.
Police did not find a suspect after being called at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a stabbing at Washington Street and West 12th Avenue.
In a news release, Eugene police said the stabbing victim required emergency medical help from police and was taken to a local hospital. Police spokesperson Melinda McLaughlin said Thursday the person was receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Search dogs and officers with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police assisted in the search, Eugene police said.
Police are continuing to investigate but in their statement Thursday morning police said “[t]here is no ongoing threat to the community.”
Traffic was closed on northbound Washington Street from West 12th Avenue to the 11th Avenue alleyway, with the roadway reopened at 12:54 a.m., police said.
