Eugene police are searching for unidentified suspects alleged to have struck in the head and used a racial slur “without provocation” against a Black man out for a night walk Wednesday, April 15, according to a news release.

Police responded at 11:43 p.m. near 2520 Willakenzie Road to find a “vulnerable” Black man in his 40s with injuries, the news release said. The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

Two suspects had left the scene, but police released images of both Thursday, April 16.

One is described as wearing a hoodie and baseball hat. He’s said to be in his 20s to 30s and of short height with a heavy build and brown, curly hair.

Another suspect is described as thin and wearing a multi-colored hoodie with dark pants and shoes. Images released by police appear to show the thin subject in a hoodie with a design similar to the Mexican flag.
