A duplex kitchen fire Wednesday in west Eugene sent one person to the hospital with a serious injury, Eugene Springfield Fire said.
Firefighters responded at about 11:30 a.m. to the 4400 block of Marcum Lane after calls for help described heavy black smoke coming from one side of a duplex, according to a news release.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the blaze and searched the residence, with one occupant rushed to a hospital. No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
