A 41-year-old Junction City man has been identified as the driver killed in a Wednesday, March 18, collision on the Randy Papé Beltline in Eugene at the exit ramp to Interstate 5.
Kenneth Lee Gajda was headed east at about 5:20 p.m. in a Ford F250 pickup that first collided with the side of a Lexus ES while exiting Beltline onto the southbound I-5 connector.
The Ford F250 then crashed through a guard rail before striking a power pole, shearing the pole, Eugene police said in a news release.
The driver of the Lexus, a 65-year-old Junction City resident, did not require hospital treatment. The collision closed down the I-5 ramp, which did not fully reopen until 1:40 a.m. Thursday, an Oregon Department of Transportation spokesperson said.
Eugene police are continuing to investigate the crash.
