Eugene police on July 9 arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the beating death of a 70-year-old man in Wisconsin, according to Eugene police and published reports.

Police in Eugene arrested Isiah Terrell Taylor, 34, after using the city’s new automated license plate reader system to track the vehicle he was driving, according to a police statement.

On June 24, Eugene police received notice that Taylor was wanted by the Milwaukee Police Department, and it was believed that Taylor had fled to the Eugene area, police said.

Published media reports from Wisconsin stated that authorities had issued an arrest warrant for Taylor in connection with an April home invasion that left a man dead at a retirement community in Milwaukee.

Eugene police launched an investigation and entered into the automated license plate reader information about “a vehicle they believed to be associated with Taylor,” according to the police statement.

Detectives located Taylor on July 9. Patrol officers, a drone team and a SWAT team worked in coordination as officers pulled over the vehicle near West 18th Avenue and Lincoln Street, taking Taylor into custody.

Anyone with information about Taylor’s activity in Eugene in the last two weeks may call Detective Rick Lowe at 541-682-5573.
