At Lookout Eugene-Springfield, we believe local journalism should nourish a community — informing, connecting and strengthening the place we call home.
This winter, we’re taking that idea literally.
We’re proud to launch our Double Giveback Campaign, a month-long membership drive in support of Food for Lane County. We are shining a light on hunger in our region, and doing something about it. From now through December 31, every new annual Lookout membership will help fuel trusted local reporting and put meals on neighbors’ tables.
For every annual membership purchased, Lookout will donate 10% to Food for Lane County — and an anonymous donor agreed to match that gift, doubling the impact. Your membership doesn’t just unlock a year of Lookout’s journalism; it translates directly into meals for families experiencing food insecurity.
This campaign runs alongside Lookout’s new three-part series on food insecurity from award-winning journalist Lauren Kessler. Her reporting takes readers inside the realities of hunger in Lane County — from the structural issues driving it, to the human stories behind the statistics. Read part one here. Part two now available here.
Food for Lane County is on the front lines of this work every day. As the region’s nonprofit food bank, Food for Lane County distributes more than eight million pounds of food annually through a vast network of local partners, pantries, and direct-service programs. Their mission is simple and urgent: reduce hunger, welcome everyone to the table, and ensure no one in Lane County goes without access to food.
This partnership lets us connect journalism with action; when you become a Lookout member, you’re supporting both. Giveback today.Â
