Oregon’s two U.S. senators have scheduled separate town hall meetings in Lane County: Jeff Merkley in Springfield, and Ron Wyden in Florence.

  • Merkley’s meeting is set for noon Sunday, Jan. 18, in the Thurston High School gymnasium, 333 58th St., Springfield. It will also include U.S. Rep. Val Hoyle, who represents Oregon’s 4th Congressional District.
  • Wyden’s town hall is planned for 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the main gymnasium at Siuslaw Middle School, 2525 Oak St., Florence. For security purposes, backpacks and large bags will not be allowed.

The senators, both Democrats, have made a practice of holding annual town halls in each of Oregon’s 36 counties. Attendees at both meetings will have opportunities to ask questions.

Merkley’s town hall is one of three he plans to hold Sunday. He also has stops planned that day in Philomath and Albany. In all, Merkley has nine town halls scheduled between Jan. 16 and 18. Wyden’s Florence town hall is one of eight he will hold in western Oregon over the next two weeks.Â
