Now that the school year is well underway, the City Club of Eugene is gathering three superintendents to talk shop on what it takes to run a school district.
At the City Club’s meeting at noon Friday, Oct. 31, superintendents from Springfield, Eugene 4J and Bethel school districts will discuss how they are handling issues like improving test scores and unpredictable public funding, as well as points of pride.
Speakers at the meeting include:
- Todd Hamilton, superintendent of Springfield Public Schools, who previously served as superintendent of the Creswell School District.
- Miriam Mickelson, superintendent of Eugene School District 4J, who stepped in to lead the district this year.
- Kraig Sproles, superintendent of Bethel School District since fall 2021, who first began his career as a middle school science and math teacher in Oregon.
The meeting, happening on Halloween, will see the three superintendents share good news “treats” and professional “tricks” they use in their roles, per a City Club press release.
The City Club of Eugene meets at WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth St. There is no charge to attend. Meetings are livestreamed and archived on the club’s YouTube channel. Meetings are rebroadcast Mondays at 7 p.m. on KLCC, 89.7 FM.
