A look back at Oregon’s historic win — but first, the boss is going to embarrass the kids.
PORTLAND — It’s 2:35 a.m. and The I-5 Corridor has officially finished covering its third Call-It-Whatever-You-Like-At-This-Point Game between the Ducks and Beavers.
In 2021, it was just me credentialed for The Corridor. Friday night, I sat by Shane Hoffmann in the press box while JJ Anderson shot the game from the sideline.
We’re about to feature his best photos from the game, but first, if you’ll allow me, I’m going to embarrass the kids.
Shane’s one of the most motivated and talented young journalists I’ve come across, something it was easy to pick up on when he DM’d me as a sophomore in college on LinkedIn.
Who uses LinkedIn? Shane Hoffmann did as a 19-year-old.
And it’s been really cool to see his work grow from his first Corridor submission — a feature on Oregon DE Brandon Dorlus back in 2021 — to his latest work, where he wrote circles around me on my own website.
Frankly, I’m shocked none of the newsrooms in the area have put an end to his Corridor freelance work and scooped him up full time. My gain, for now.
Then, JJ’s photos have added so much pop to the site. I’m thankful UO has allowed me to use their photos over the years — shoutout Eric Evans — but it’s pretty darn nice to have our own photos, that we own, that we can use for whatever we want.
It’s almost like this is turning into a legitimate operation.
