As a resident of Ward 5, I’m proud to support Mike Clark for reelection to the Eugene City Council.
Ward 5 represents a pragmatic and growing part of Eugene — one that has embraced change rather than resisted it. In areas like North Gilham and North Delta Highway, we’ve welcomed thousands of new neighbors and taken a “yes in my backyard” approach to housing. Mike has not only supported that vision, he’s helped lead it. His commitment to increasing housing supply and promoting a diversity of housing types has created more opportunity and improved affordability for residents.
That willingness to say “yes” has delivered real results. Our part of town has seen meaningful investments in infrastructure, including long-overdue sidewalks, along with new parks and open spaces that enhance quality of life. We’re also seeing more services and amenities — restaurants, shops and local businesses — that reflect a thriving and growing community. These outcomes don’t happen by accident. They happen with leadership that listens and responds.
Clark is that kind of leader. He is consistently present in the community, attending neighborhood meetings, engaging with constituents and making himself accessible to both residents and businesses.
Eugene is at a crossroads. We face serious challenges with housing affordability, homelessness and lagging job and wage growth. For too long, the prevailing approach has failed to deliver the results our community needs. Clark has been a consistent voice for a more balanced path, one that prioritizes economic growth, job creation and fiscal responsibility. His early advocacy to purchase the Eugene Water & Electric Board headquarters instead of building a new city hall ultimately saved taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.
As a Democrat who works professionally in public policy and is deeply engaged in civic life, I value thoughtful, pragmatic leadership. Ward 5, and Eugene, need a voice grounded in results, not rhetoric.
I’m voting for Mike Clark.
