Twenty years ago, I landed in the emergency room at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District in Eugene. I was insured through my employer.

Sometime later, I got a bill from Eugene Emergency Physicians, because that contractor to PeaceHealth billed separately and had no agreement with my insurance company, which denied the claim.

Will the proposed contract change to ApolloMD solve that problem? PeaceHealth should either hire ER doctors directly, or contractually demand that whatever business supplies providers is covered by whatever insurance ER patients come in the door with.

In addition, PeaceHealth must demand that enough physicians staff the ER to minimize wait times, including calling in doctors to handle unexpected surges in demand.
