I am disappointed the Flock Safety license-plate reader cameras in Eugene are being turned off without more community input. I live outside Eugene-Springfield but do shopping, go to health appointments and run errands in the metro area. The use of cameras isn’t ideal, but it is a tool for law enforcement to reduce crime and traffic violations. Taxpayers want traffic control, less theft, more safety for everyone, but they don’t want to pay for it. I would be interested to hear alternative solutions from the opposition.
