The scary story on ICE in Oregon on June 11 headlined “Questions around Eugene ICE enforcement stoke local concern,” lacks context. We’re in an ongoing drama, starting in the President Barack Obama years.
In the Obama years, 3.2 million were deported. He was routinely denounced – in Oregon and elsewhere – as deporter in chief.
There were more deportations in Obama’s last year than in President Donald Trump’s last year. Ditto President Joe Biden in his last year.
So while people like to call Trump racist for the deportations, isn’t Obama the bigger racist?
Oregon and Illinois are the only states to refuse all cooperation with ICE.
Can you enter Canada or most any other country without a passport? And stay forever? And not pay income taxes? With a free K-12 education?
