QuickTake:

The budget airline announced it will step in to cover the route after Avelo Airlines said it would end service to Eugene Airport later this year.

Breeze Airways, an Ohio-based budget flight company, has announced it will offer service between Eugene and Burbank, California, with two flights per week.

The announcement comes a few days after Avelo Airlines announced the closure of its West Coast operations in Burbank. Avelo said it will end service to Eugene by Dec. 1.

“We’re really excited to have Breeze come into our market and serve our community with the two flights that they’ve announced,” Andrew Martz, assistant director of the Eugene Airport, said in an interview with Lookout Eugene-Springfield. “So we’re really looking forward to working with them and helping them succeed.”

Breeze Airways’ service to Burbank will begin March 19, 2026. Travelers can already begin buying tickets. The fares start at $49 for a one-way ticket.

McKinnley Matson, a Breeze Airways spokesperson, described how the new service came to Eugene.

“Breeze was initially founded to specifically serve underserved communities like Eugene,” Matson said. “So it has been clear to us for quite a long time that Eugene would be a great market fit for our air service. And knowing that they were going to be losing service, it certainly kind of put them into that underserved market that we typically serve.”

Avelo Airlines said that the company was ending West Coast service due to financial pressures. The airline also faced pressure from demonstrators protesting the company’s involvement in migrant deportation flights.
