QuickTake:
Chances are that if a caregiver yells out "Oliver" or "Olivia" at an Oregon playground, several heads will turn.
For the third year in a row, Oliver and Olivia are the most popular baby names in Oregon.
That’s according to the Social Security Administration, which publishes a list every May of the names parents choose most often for their infants during the previous year.
On the boys’ list, Ezra and Hudson fell out of the top 10 in the state from 2023, replaced by Elijah and James. Sebastian was No. 11 on the boys’ list. On the girls’ side, Mia fell to 11th, and Luna dropped down to 12th, while Eleanor and Aurora jumped into the top 10.
Nationwide, parents selected many of the same names that Oregon parents chose for their newborns. When you figure the two different spellings of Sophia — Sophia and Sofia — it is by far the most popular name for girls, with more than 20,000 babies getting the name on their Social Security cards last year.
