Morning Lookout: School districts prepare for cell phone ban

Good morning, Lookout Eugene-Springfield,

Education reporter Lilly St. Angelo looks at how three local districts are planning for the governor’s cell phone ban in schools.

U.S. Rep. Val Hoyle held a town hall at South Eugene High School last night, where she talked with a crowd of about 400 people about kitchen table issues. But the meeting got rowdy at times, with pro-Palestine protestors interrupting her.

What students can expect from the coming cellphone ban

Bethel and Springfield schools plan to implement the governor’s bell-to-bell cellphone ban this fall, while Eugene 4J schools expect to wait until January. But none of the districts have official policies yet detailing exactly how it will work.
