QuickTake:

In just four months, Lookout Eugene-Springfield hit a significant audience milestone with more than 1 million page views. We also added two new people to our team, including a reporter who will cover Ducks sports.

Thanks to all of you, we’re off to an incredible start. It’s been only four months since we launched in early April, and already you’ve all racked up more than 1 million page views on Lookout Eugene-Springfield.

That’s a lot of reading, but we all know it is just prologue for all to come this fall and into 2026. Digital reading numbers can be tricky, but a million is a lot – and many of these views are of stories only Lookout has covered.

Consider one more stat: 160,000. That’s the number of “unique visitors” who read Lookout in July via our website and our app. (And if you haven’t downloaded our app – and moved it to your first page – you can do it in about 30 seconds right here. Readers tell us they love the speed and instant accessibility of the app.)

Please continue spreading this great awareness of our journalists’ work. Share these links – as widely as you can.

Coverage of Ducks sports

Dann Miller has led our new newsroom of 16 experts through our first few months, and today, he’s got an announcement many of you have been waiting for: the appointment of our Ducks correspondent.

Check it out hereand let me just add my welcome to Tyson Alger, who joins us ready to bring our University of Oregon Ducks coverage up to full speed overnight. We searched for a reporter who knew his stuff and whose voice would keep you up to date on all things Ducks. Tyson, with more than a decade of experience covering sports and the Ducks, starts our coverage this week.

On the business side of things

We have one more big announcement. Lookout’s business model is to support ourselves, over time, on your membership dollars and on local advertising. Today, we announce the appointment of Jim Danzer as our director of revenue and partnerships.

A native Oregonian who is coming home, Jim will head up our advertising sales work, meeting all of our more than three dozen Marketing Partners, building plans with them, and talking with businesses and nonprofits throughout the county about their marketing plans.

Jim started his media career in Eugene with KLSR/KEVU TV and has gone on to a well-respected career in media sales and sales management with several industry leaders across broadcast, radio and cable companies in Oregon and Northern California.

In his new role, which officially begins Sept. 2, he will work with Morgana Dundon, our sales manager, who has gotten Marketing Partners so well launched. Feel free to say hi to Jim.

Jim has been a steady supporter of nonprofits throughout his career. Nineteen nonprofits now form our Civic Partners program, which will see expanded benefits this fall.
We want to thank Amanda Coers, who set up our community efforts, and is returning to her first love, teaching. We’re hiring for the important Community and Student Engagement manager position; please share the post widely.
