Roadwork is affecting traffic near you
- Long-term projects: – Construction is happening near the corners of 18th and Hilyard Street this week. Expect some delays and possible lane reductions to a single lane. Watch for traffic cones, signs, and workers guiding traffic. Pedestrians will need to follow detours around closed ramps.
- Major construction is underway at Columbia Street and East 17th Avenue from Monday through today. Work includes new storm drains, wastewater and electrical connections, and road improvements. Parts of East 17th Avenue (from east of Agate Street to Columbia Street and from East 17th Avenue to Moss Avenue), as well as sections of Columbia Street and Columbia Alley, are affected. Vehicle detours are set up at Agate Street, East 17th Avenue, Columbia Street, Moss Street, and East 19th Avenue. Pedestrian routes are also detoured, and bike lanes on Agate Street (west side) and Moss Street (east side) are closed and merged with traffic. Large trucks and equipment are in the area. Construction will continue through summer 2027.
- Construction is taking place at 13th Avenue and Hilyard Street from Monday through today for a new University of Oregon student housing project. The right lane on Hilyard Street between 13th and 11th Avenues is closed, but the protected bike lane is mostly open with occasional brief closures. The east sidewalk on Hilyard Street between 13th and 11th Avenues is closed; pedestrians should use the west sidewalk between 13th and 12th Avenues. The pedestrian crossing at Hilyard and 12th Avenue now has a stop sign for north and south pedestrian traffic, but the east-west crossing at this intersection does not have a stop or signals.
