Restaurant inspections
County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.
- Hacienda Amigo Mio at 3344 Gateway St. was cited for issues during a county health inspection on April 15. The restaurant scored 84 out of 100. Inspectors found employees washing hands improperly, using a warewashing sink and cloth towels instead of designated handwashing sinks with disposable towels. A handwashing sink was misused as a dump sink with ice inside. Soda nozzles had residue buildup, and some ready-to-eat foods like cut tomatoes were not date-marked. Raw chicken was thawed on the counter, onions were stored on the floor, and whipped cream bottles were kept in ice used for drinks. Wood paddles and deeply scored cutting boards were used, and a dump sink near the bar was leaking. All issues were corrected or addressed. (view report)

- Cornucopia Main St. at 521 Main St. was cited for issues during a county health inspection on April 28. The restaurant scored 97 out of 100. The inspector found that the food slicer in the prep room had food residue and needed cleaning, which was done immediately. The exterior door frame near the den was damaged and needs repair to keep out pests. Some racks in the walk-in fridge had rust and must be cleaned and maintained to prevent further rusting. Last, a floor fan in the back prep room was dusty and requires regular cleaning, especially when food is not being prepared. All issues were addressed or require prompt attention. (view report)

Note on today’s report: Some of the incidents listed are not recent. This can happen for a couple of reasons: Delays in agency reporting โ sometimes officials don’t file reports right away, or agencies release batches of reports weeks later. Delays in public complaints โ people may not notice or decide to contact police until some time after an incident. Please contact the responsible law-enforcement agency or your local elected officials if you have concerns about their delay in releasing information.
