Eugene police arrested a 47-year-old man after a stabbing inside a Safeway store Thursday, April 23.
Jason Troy Grinder was booked into the Lane County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
Police responded at 3:52 p.m. to the grocery store at 145 E. 18th Ave. after a man working at the store in his 40s told police he was stabbed by a person he did not know, police spokesperson Melinda McLaughlin said.
The stabbing victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, McLaughlin said.
Bystanders calling for help gave police a description of a suspect along with his direction of travel, McLaughlin said. After a short time, police found Griner near 17th Avenue and Mill Street and took him into custody, McLaughlin said.
