Good morning, Lookout Eugene-Springfield,
I freely admit that lobster is my favorite food, though I rarely have it. So when I was editing today’s dining feature by Taylor Goebel, which included the line “He’s showcasing the lobster you ordered, now beautifully butterflied, right before roasting it,” she hooked me. The restaurant is Dueling Spoons in Fall Creek, and it’s now on my list of places I need to go. Something tells me it will be on your list, too, after reading.
Jaime Adame has the story of a former state employee’s lawsuit alleging she was following orders from a supervisor when she improperly entered a home as part of a child welfare investigation. What followed, she says, was retaliation by the state agency.
Palace Coffee and Bakery is expanding. It will open its fifth location at a familiar spot in downtown Springfield, Lillian Schrock-Clevenger reports. The building, kitty corner from The Public House, has been used by the company since 2022 as a roasting facility. Opening later this year or early next, it will have a full-service cafe.
Lillian also recently visited with Natalie Reeves, who purchased Little Red Farm Nursery in Springfield and opened it for the season last month. It’s always good when a 35-year-old business keeps going.
