Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Eirinn’s Bistro at 639 W Centennial Blvd., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on February 9. The restaurant scored 81 out of 100. Inspectors found handwashing sinks blocked with items and lacking hot water, which must be fixed immediately to ensure proper hand hygiene. A container of milk over 7 days old without a date label was discarded, highlighting the need for proper food dating and timely disposal. Food debris was found under a prep cupboard, floors are damaged and need repair, and a leaking faucet handle requires fixing. Additionally, ceiling tiles in food areas are not suitable and must be replaced with smooth, cleanable materials to maintain cleanliness and safety. (view report)

  • Mezza Luna Pizzeria at 115 S 5th St., passed a county health inspection on February 16 with no issues. (view report)

  • Lagoon Playcafe at 145 Pioneer Parkway, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on February 16. The restaurant received a score of 97 out of 100. Inspectors found live drain flies in the kitchen, which is a pest control issue. The restaurant was required to eliminate the flies immediately using approved methods. The operator consulted a pest control technician and began cleaning drains with detergent. A follow-up inspection showed the drain fly population had decreased, and additional trapping with apple cider vinegar was recommended. The issue was corrected by the re-inspection date.
