Eugene police arrested 54-year-old Adam Samuel Charles in connection with a reported stabbing Monday, Feb. 9, at Sixth Avenue and Lincoln Street.

Police officers responding to a report of a stabbing at 5:18 p.m. found the victim, a man in his 20s, along with a bystander who was treating the victim’s wounds with a tourniquet.

Officers took over treatment, applying a second tourniquet, and the man was taken to a hospital by Eugene Springfield Fire for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers, including a police dog, were searching for the suspect but had only limited information, according to a press release Tuesday from Eugene police. Officers were able to develop a description of the suspect and arrested Charles nearby at Sixth Avenue and Lawrence Street.

Charles was taken to Lane County Jail and charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and supplying contraband.
