The Trump administration’s increasingly fascist regime wants us to believe that they have all the power and we have none. But we do have power, especially when we join together in mass nonviolent noncooperation.
Right now, Amazon is reportedly planning to build a huge warehouse in Eugene. Many have expressed concerns about traffic impacts, air pollution, harm to the local economy, overuse of electricity, violation of workers’ rights and collusion with the Trump regime. But city officials are letting Amazon push into Eugene as though we have no local sovereignty at all.
There is a growing campaign to “Say No to Amazon” in three ways:
- Stop Amazon from building a warehouse in Eugene
- Boycott Amazon
- Revitalize our local economy and sovereignty
Amazon fuels the fascist regime through Amazon Web Services, facilitating the targeting of immigrants, trans people, people of color, activists and anyone who doesn’t bow low enough. Furthermore, Amazon is becoming a global monopoly, is aggressively anti-union, i is pro-fossil fuel, is pro-nuclear power, consumes vast amounts of water and electricity, and supports cloud tech to the Israeli government for its genocide in Gaza.
If you’re concerned about Amazon’s plans to build in Eugene, speak out at the City Council meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. and sign up for public comment. The meeting starts 30 minutes later. And please join the “Say No to Amazon” campaign at indivisible-eug-spr.org/action-teams.
