Morning Lookout: Springfield discusses Flock cameras, education unions negotiate contracts

Here’s what’s new today:

Springfield City Council takes up the issue of Flock cameras tonight at its work session. Lillian Schrock-Clevenger reviews where things stand in Springfield and how that city’s contract with Flock differs from Eugene’s.

In education, Lilly St. Angelo has an update on contract negotiations in each of the three major school districts in Eugene and Springfield, plus Lane Community College. And speaking of LCC, Mike McInally attended a work session last week where the board learned about liability — and signed a code of conduct.

Tyson Alger writes about how Ducks quarterback Dante Moore got his groove back with that rout of Rutgers. Meanwhile, Tyson and Elon Glucklich, our opinion editor, are rabid Seattle Mariners fans, and they’ll be glued to the TV for Game 7 of the ALCS. (Well, at least Tyson will be. What we know about the Flock license-plate reader cameras in Springfield

The Springfield City Council will discuss the cameras at a Monday evening work session. According to Springfield Police, the cameras are installed but not turned on. Police say the cameras help solve crimes; some members of the public have expressed privacy concerns.
