You’d have to go back 18 months — to January 2024 — to find the last time Tara Davis-Woodhall did not win a long jump competition.
The reigning Olympic gold medalist won again July 31 at Hayward Field in Eugene, with a leap of 23 feet, 4 ½ inches, after fouling on her first two attempts.
Woodhall is one of the more than 1,100 athletes at the meet, which continues through Sunday at the USA Track & Field Outdoor and Para National Championships. Other winners Thursday night included Emily Infeld of Portland in the women’s 10,000 meters and Nico Young of Flagstaff, Arizona, in the men’s 10,000 meters. Many of the other races Thursday were early-round heats.
Lookout Eugene-Springfield photographer Isaac Wasserman was there to document the action.
