Good evening,

For the record, I’m wearing green socks. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day.

Sometimes the more “minor” sports at the University of Oregon slink along in the shadow of that sport they play in the big stadium across the river. Take women’s golf, for instance, which is ranked No. 3 in the nation. The team includes the No. 1 amateur in the world: Kiara Romero. Lookout sportswriter Tyson Alger went down to the team’s practice range near Creswell to hit a bucket of balls with coach Derek Radley and talk about his team, but also, well… physics, bowling, naming his kids, giving golf tips to, yes, Ducks football coach Dan Lanning, and that memorable time his wife ignored his golf advice. It’s a fun read.

Oregon has gone off track on meeting its targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions – 45% below 1990 levels by 2035 and 80% below by 2050. The state is asking the public to weigh in on ideas for getting back on track. Our partner Oregon Capital Chronicle has the story.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater — a troupe that is rooted in performances that explore the Black experience in America — is in Eugene for two shows at the Hult Center. The first is tonight at 7:30, so if you are looking for something to do, hurry up and get over there. Otherwise you can catch them tomorrow, too. Annie Aguiar has the details, and an interview with one of the group’s dancers and choreographers.
