Well, here’s the ballet Bob would be at if Bob liked to be at ballets: an adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” choreographed to a 1980s pop soundtrack. Having been a college student in the ’80s, I’m sure I’ve danced to all of these songs myself. Annie Aguiar gives us a preview of this production by the homegrown Ballet Fantastique, which will perform for the first time on the big stage of the Hult Center’s Silva Concert Hall.
Local election season is just around the corner. Hey, wake up! This is your duty as a citizen! We have a list of races and ballot measures voters in Eugene and Springfield will decide this May — including a number of contested city council, county commissioner and legislative seats. The University of Oregon has suspended the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity through winter 2030, citing violations such as hazing, furnishing alcohol to minors and theft. Grace Chinowsky has the story.
A federal judge upbraided the Bonneville Power Administration, saying it disturbed evidence at the ignition site of the 2020 Holiday Farm Fire. The ruling has to do with multiple lawsuits working their way through the courts that seek damages related to the wildfire that destroyed 700 structures in the McKenzie River valley. Jaime Adame reports.
Seven Lane County high school basketball teams are still in the hunt for a state title, with games tonight and tomorrow. Mike McInally rounds up the situation.
