Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • El Buen Taco Taqueria at 2147 Main Street, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 15. The restaurant received a score of 79 out of 100 during its inspection. Key issues included improper storage of food and supplies in a mobile unit without a license, cooked rice not cooled properly, and a sanitizer concentration that was too high. The inspector required immediate corrections, which included moving storage inside the unit, ensuring food cools to safe temperatures, and adjusting sanitizer levels. Additionally, plumbing issues were noted, such as a leaking faucet and a handwashing sink improperly plumbed, which must be fixed. Lastly, outdoor waste containers need to be covered to prevent debris and pests. (view report)

  • Torero’s Family Mexican Rest at 5705 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 20. The restaurant received a score of 91 out of 100 during its inspection. Key issues included employees drinking from unapproved containers near food, missing consumer advisories for raw or undercooked items on the menu, unlabeled food containers, gaps in doors allowing pests, and surfaces that were not smooth or clean. Corrective actions required immediate changes, such as ensuring proper labeling, providing consumer warnings, sealing openings, and improving cleanliness and maintenance of surfaces. The inspector discussed these issues with the management to ensure compliance. (view report)
