Eugene Springfield Fire and the Eugene Police Department responded and recovered a body from the Willamette River in Eugene Sunday, police said. 

Authorities received a call at 3:17 p.m. Sunday that a person was submerged near milepost 1.5 of the South Bank Path, police said. Milepost 1.5 is within Skinner Butte Park.

Eugene-Springfield Fire found the person was deceased, police said. Police declined to release any identifying information about the individual. The Lane County Medical Examiner took jurisdiction of the body and will continue to investigate the death.
