The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through Monday, Oct. 13, with snow forecast to accumulate above 4,000 feet.

The period of heaviest snow is predicted for Sunday, Oct.12, through Monday morning. The Portland office of the National Weather Service warned vehicles may become stranded along unmaintained roads.

The Santiam, Bennett and Willamette passes have a 50% to 80% chance of 2-6 inches of wet snow.

Above 5,000 feet, there is a 60% to 80% chance of at least 12 inches of snow, primarily for locations north of the Three Sisters.

The weather service advisory suggested anyone camping above 5,000 feet move to a location below 4,000 feet or be prepared to be temporarily stranded due to deep snow.
