The power of fiber-optic technology within the Willamette Valley

In the heart of the Willamette Valley is a community poised for the future, and our company Emerald Broadband is launching that community into that future by providing the world’s most powerful fiber-optic technology and delivering the best-in-class internet experience, affordably, and locally.

Our Emerald Broadband fiber-optic internet uses light to transmit data, making it significantly faster and more efficient than the older metal wiring that many ISPs still use. While our customers currently enjoy speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (1,000 megabits), our network’s advanced active ethernet design means they can now access multi-gigabit speeds up to 100 gigabits per second and beyond.

These speeds are the difference between your file taking 20 minutes to download on cable vs. taking just seconds to download on our Emerald Broadband network. It’s also the difference in how fast your files UPLOAD, meaning your beefy, bulky files upload just as fast as you can download them. While most ISPs only provide upload speeds at a fraction of the download speed, we believe in providing equally fast speeds- symmetrical speeds.

Carpool lane vs traffic jams

Unlike traditional ISPs that rely on outdated copper cables or shared bandwidth, Emerald Broadband uses Active Ethernet technology, which allows us to run a dedicated fiber line directly to each home or business we serve. This means our customers get their own “lane” on the information superhighway, making it ideal for streaming, gaming, remote learning, and running a business. This method is completely different from standard cable internet, and differentiating the two delivery systems is key to educating the public on how fiber internet is an intrinsically superior internet.

By investing in this state-of-the-art infrastructure, we’re not just meeting today’s needs– we’re preparing Lane County and future counties for whatever the digital future may bring, including advanced technologies that require ultra-fast, ultra-reliable connections.

A grassroots company built for the community

Emerald Broadband is more than just an internet provider. As a public benefit corporation, we focus on serving our community rather than prioritizing profits. Our CEO, Raymond Hardman, and our team constantly ask, “Are we providing the best service possible?” and “Is this the right thing to do for our customers?” If the answer isn’t yes, we work to improve. When we get reviews from customers, everyone at the company sees it and makes a point of signing the letter of thanks.

Our company’s steady growth comes from being deeply rooted in the community we serve. Unlike outside providers who expand based on corporate timelines, our development is directly tied to local support- the more residents who choose Emerald Broadband as their internet provider, the faster we can extend our cutting-edge network to new neighborhoods.

Curious customers can easily check for network availability via our address search, and anywhere not currently equipped for our network will be marked as an area of interest for the future. This community-driven expansion ensures we build exactly where service is needed most, creating a stronger digital infrastructure for Eugene and surrounding areas.

The difference of a locally grown fiber internet company

What sets Emerald Broadband apart isn’t just our technology- we prioritize our customers because they’re our neighbors first. While larger ISPs can feel impersonal and disconnected, Emerald Broadband is deeply rooted in the local area. When you call our office, you get to speak with a real person, downtown, right by Kesey Square. You’re not a call in our queue- you’re our focus.

That’s why Emerald Broadband has invested its own capital to build a modern, sustainable fiber network right here in our community. Unlike companies beholden to outside private equity or distant shareholders, we make decisions based on what’s best for our local customers and long-term sustainability, not quarterly profit targets or external investors’ demands. Our resources stay focused on serving this community rather than being diverted to distant markets or outside interests.

Emerald Broadband isn’t just another ISP or utility service. It’s a community-driven, future-focused company that believes in unlocking the internet’s full potential for everyone and providing business-quality internet at residential prices.

Looking ahead: Investing in Emerald Broadband & your community

Emerald Broadband’s focus moving forward is expanding its fiber network to even more rural communities, ensuring everyone has access to high-speed internet. As technology continues to evolve, the company plans to keep adapting its services to meet the growing digital demands of schools, businesses, and individuals. The main goal is to make sure that everyone in Lane County can stay connected, regardless of where they live or their financial situation.
