Two people who police said sustained serious injuries in a June 20 shooting at Skinner Butte Park continue to recover, a Eugene police spokesperson said Tuesday, June 30.

The two people shot were taken to a local hospital for treatment and “are expected to be released in the near future,” police spokesperson Melinda McLaughlin said in an email.

No arrests have been made, but police have identified a suspect, McLaughlin said. Last week, McLaughlin said police “don’t believe there’s a threat to the public.”

Officers responded around 12:50 a.m. June 20 to a report that someone had been shot in the Cheshire Avenue and Skinner Butte Loop area, with the shooting taking place “at the base of the hill” near the intersection, McLaughlin has said.
