This story has been updated with responses from a Lane County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
A sheriff’s office investigation continues into the death of a 44-year-old woman identified Monday as Megan Joe Landig.
Residents near Gates Cemetery on April 25 reported finding Landig’s body. The cemetery is roughly 15 miles southwest of Eugene.
A statement Monday from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said no further details would be immediately released.
Sgt. Tim Wallace, a sheriff’s office spokesman, declined to answer when asked if the sheriff’s office is investigating the death as a homicide. Wallace also declined to answer when asked if an autopsy has been done to determine the cause of Landig’s death.
Landig was from Eugene, Wallace said. Gates Cemetery, where Landig was found, is considered open to the public though it’s believed to be privately owned, Wallace said.
Anyone with information related to the death investigation may call the sheriff’s office at 541-682-4141 and reference Case No. 25-1968.
