Bundle up, and make sure the last layer is waterproof. A chilly, wet Thanksgiving weekend is on the way, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
Light to moderate rain moved in Tuesday, and precipitation will continue through Wednesday across the Willamette Valley. Meteorologists don’t expect heavier rain to reach the Eugene area until late Wednesday night into early Thursday.
Colder air settles in this weekend and into early next week. Lowlands face a 45% to 75% chance of subfreezing overnight lows Saturday night into Sunday morning, and again Sunday night into Monday. Widespread temperatures in the mid-20s to around 30 degrees are possible, which would be the season’s coldest stretch so far.
A rain-snow mix is possible on mountain passes above 3,000 to 4,000 feet Sunday night into early Monday morning.
So far this fall, a station at the Eugene Airport has recorded 2.62 inches of rain in October and 2.97 inches in November.
