I’m writing to call out a small, and somewhat hidden, but excellent feature of Lookout Eugene-Springfield’s coverage of local news. In the public meetings section of the Willamette Watch newsletter, there are links to all of the meeting agendas, minutes, staff memos, and other information relevant to the meeting and the issues to be covered.
This is a remarkably useful tool for staying informed about the activities of our local governments, and provides a level of detail about specific issues that goes beyond what can reasonably be covered in regular articles. This is particularly true if one has a specific issue of interest and needs to be well informed about how our elected officials and government staff are dealing with it. The level of detail in the meeting packets is very beneficial.
This particular feature is in addition to the already thorough and timely coverage provided in regular articles. No news medium I’m aware of has ever gone to these lengths to keep its readers informed. Well done, Lookout, and thanks.
