Musician and activist Carsie Blanton’s planned Oct. 12 concert in Eugene has been postponed after her release from detention in Israel earlier this week — though a new Eugene date has not yet been set.

Blanton was aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, a collection of activists who took to sailboats in an attempt to break Israel’s 18-year blockade of the Gaza Strip by providing food and medicine.

The flotilla was intercepted by Israeli authorities on Oct. 2, just days before Blanton’s West Coast tour was scheduled to begin.

The flotilla included a reported 479 activists aboard 42 boats, including Swedish environmentalist Greta Thunberg. In a Stockholm press conference Oct. 7, Thunberg reported harsh conditions in detention in Israel toward herself and the other detainees, according to a Reuters story.

News of Blanton’s release came on Tuesday in an Instagram post showing the remaining detained activists from the United States, including Blanton, together in Jordan.

Her Eugene concert was planned as a benefit for the Civil Liberties Defense Center, a Eugene organization that represents arrested activists.

Organizers were initially hopeful that Blanton would still perform on Oct. 12, but the concert has been postponed without a specific rescheduled date. Blanton’s website shows rescheduled West Coast stops for February 2026, but no date for Eugene.
