Oregon House District 7

Kori Rodley is leading in the Democratic primary race for the Oregon House of Representatives 7th district, which encompasses Springfield, early returns show.

Rodley had 60.5% of the votes, while Ky Fireside had 25.1%. KC Huffman had 12.7% of the votes, as of 8 p.m., Tuesday.

Rodley is a Springfield city councilor and works at Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services. She received donations from multiple political action committees, raising more than twice what Fireside, a progressive activist and archaeologist with the civil engineering firm Kleinfelder, raised. Huffman, an attorney at Bromley Newton Huffman in Eugene, did not fundraise. 

The primary winner will face Republican Adam Wilson, a wealth advisor at LPL Financial, who is uncontested in his primary, to succeed Rep. John Lively, a Democrat, who is retiring after 14 years in the Legislature.

State Senate District 6 

As of 8 p.m., Jack Tibbetts is ahead in the Republican primary for Oregon’s Senate District 6, which includes Creswell, Cottage Grove, Oakridge, the McKenzie River valley, Junction City, Coburg and the rest of eastern Lane County.

Early results show Tibbetts had 65.1% of the votes, while Cate had 28.9%. Nicole De Graff was trailing with 5.7% of the votes. 

Tibbets is a Cottage Grove farmer and rancher. Cate is a Linn County farmer and state representative for House District 11. De Graff is a Springfield School Board member. 

The winner will face unopposed Democrat Sierrah Williams, a registered dietitian nutritionist with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, in November. 

The general election winner will replace Sen. Cedric Hayden, who was barred from running for reelection this year because of his participation in a six-week walkout in 2023. 

Oregon House District 9 

Initial results put Claire Lynn in the lead for the Republican primary for Oregon’s State House District 9, which covers the central Oregon coast, including Florence, Mapleton, Reedsport and Coos Bay.

As of 8 p.m., Lynn had 79.8% of the votes, while Troy Cribbins had 19.6%.

Lynn is a legislative director at the Oregon House Republican Office. Cribbins is an administrator at Pacific Home Health and Hospice and Coos Bay city councilor. 

In November, the winner will go up against Democrat John Ezra Scheirman, a school bus driver who is uncontested in the primary, to succeed Rep. Boomer Wright, who is stepping down after three terms.

Oregon House District 13

Initial returns show incumbent Rep. Nancy Nathanson is leading in the Democratic primary race for House District 13 as she seeks a 10th term.

As of 8 p.m., Nathanson had 92.6% of the votes, while Eugene resident Kathy Cantrell-Damewood, a retired realtor and teacher, had 7.1%.

Nathanson, who lives in Eugene, is a former academic librarian.

The district covers an area west of the Eugene Airport and along the northern edge of Eugene, stretching up beyond the city limits.

In the general election, the winner will face Republican Jonathan Abrahamsen, CEO of Buck Point Tools LLC, who does not have a challenger in the primary.

Oregon House District 14

Early results show Oregon House Speaker Julie Fahey is ahead in the Democratic primary for the Oregon House of Representatives 14th district, which includes western Eugene, Veneta and portions of unincorporated Lane County.

As of 8 p.m., Fahey had 92.4% of the votes, while Erik Glass had 7.2%, a X-percentage point lead.

Julie Fahey has represented the district since 2016. Glass is a small business owner who specializes in courier services and freight loading and unloading.

The winner will face Republican Kevin Burton, a Eugene teacher, in November. He is uncontested in the primary.
