QuickTake:

Sheldon hosts McMinville in Wednesday's first round, while Creswell and Pleasant Hill have quarterfinal games Thursday.

The Sheldon girls basketball team is headed to the 6A Oregon state tournament and will host a first-round game Wednesday, March 4.

Meanwhile, Creswell and Pleasant Hill are headed to the state 3A quarterfinals Thursday, March 5. And even though the 5A and 4A brackets won’t be unveiled until later this week, Springfield and Marist Catholic are playoff locks — and a handful of other Lane County teams might be headed to the postseason.

Here’s a playoff roundup:

6A

McMinville at Sheldon, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday: Sheldon (19-5) grabbed the No. 12 seed in the 32-team 6A state tournament, earning a first-round home game against McMinville, the No. 21 seed. McMinville’s Grizzlies (13-11) have been up and down this season, but won four of the last five games. The winner plays either No. 5 Sherwood or No. 28 Sprague in the second round March 7.

3A

Both Creswell and Pleasant Hill earned spots in Thursday’s state quarterfinals at Marshfield High School. Here are details about their games:

Creswell vs. Sisters, 3:15 p.m. The Creswell Bulldogs (20-6), No. 4 seed in the tournament, take on Mountain Valley Conference foe Sisters (also 20-6), the No. 5 seed in this quarterfinal. The teams split two regular-season matches, with both teams winning on the road: The Outlaws won 45-39 at Creswell Jan. 16, while the Bulldogs prevailed 53-35 in Sisters. The winner advances to Friday’s semifinal against either No. 1 Vale or No. 8 Sutherlin. Creswell posted a 61-42 win against Jefferson on Saturday to earn its quarterfinal slot.

Pleasant Hill vs. Amity, 8:15 p.m. Thursday’s nightcap features the No. 7 seed Pleasant Hill Billies (18-9) against No. 2 Amity (25-2). Amity’s Warriors are riding an 18-game winning streak.. The team hasn’t lost since Jan. 3, and that was a tight game against No. 1 Vale. But the Billies beat Coquille 40-31 in Saturday’s second round and have victories against three of the remaining teams in the 3A tournament. The winner plays either No. 6 Valley Catholic or No. 3 Banks in Friday’s semifinal.

5A

The 16-team 5A girls’ bracket will be announced after the end of regular season or league playoff games Wednesday, March 4. Four teams qualify from the Midwestern Conference, and two at-large teams will earn spots on the bracket. Springfield (22-3), ranked No. 2 among the state’s 5A teams by the Oregon School Activities Association, is a playoff lock. No. 16 North Eugene (12-12) likely will qualify as well. No. 18 Thurston (10-14) would have to earn one of the at-large bids to qualify. First-round games are scheduled for Saturday, March 7.

4A

The 16-team 4A girls’ bracket will be announced after the end of regular season or league playoff games Wednesday, March 4, but No. 4 Marist Catholic (18-6) has locked up a playoff spot. Four at-large teams still have to be added to the tournament, and No. 15 Cottage Grove (13-12) could be one of those.
