League leaders face off in boys basketball clashes 

Two games among conference pacesetters stand out on this week’s schedule of Lane County high school boys basketball games. Here’s the rundown:

• Grants Pass at Sheldon, 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13: The Irish (7-1 league, 15-6 overall) are tied for the 6A-7 Southwest Conference lead and need a win to keep pace with South Medford — especially after the Irish’s loss last week to the Panthers. (The teams split their season series — and, oddly, both games had identical 62-50 scores.) But Grants Pass (5-3 league, 8-10 overall) won’t be a pushover — and will be seeking revenge for an earlier 52-41 loss to the Irish.
• Pleasant Hill at Creswell, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13: Pleasant Hill’s Billies (8-0 league, 18-4 overall) are just one game ahead of the Bulldogs (7-1 league, 15-6 overall) in the 3A-4 Mountain Valley Conference standings. The Oregon School Activities Association ranks Pleasant Hill as the No. 3 3A team in the state, but the No. 10 Bulldogs have extra motivation: The Billies prevailed 60-54 Jan. 27.
