Apparently, only the true believers and converts are worthy of consideration for the future of Lane County. Why in the world are we having evangelical Christian opening prayers at a Lane County Board of Commissioners meeting? Perhaps we could open the next meeting with a fairy tale like “The Three Little Pigs.”
Any kind of religious prayer at a government meeting is problematic for obvious reasons. The inclusion of one religious group excludes all others. We have a longstanding tradition of religious freedom in this country, and a big part of that is separation of church and state.
